Best Winter Destinations in Europe

There's something unique about seeing Europe in the winter. Having the same experience, and visiting in winter feels like experiencing a destination for the first time. Unlike other seasons, winter can entirely alter a location and produce a unique visiting experience that cannot be taken at other times of the year.

The short days and snow allow for winter sports and activities such as hunting for the northern lights. Winter, on the other hand, brings with it several significant events and celebrations, such as Christmas and New Year's Eve. These celebrations allow local culture and customs to come through, revealing a side of a place you might not have seen.

1.

1 Hallstatt, Austria

Winter brings out the best in several European destinations, such as the charming mountain village of Hallstatt. This small Austrian hamlet is separated by a lake and overshadowed by the neighboring Alps, which look their best when sparkling with white snow. What distinguishes Hallstatt is its combination of stunning environment and pleasantly quaint mountain dwellings
